Max Jolliffe won Badwater 135, the race that bills itself as the world's toughest footrace, and Trail Runner called the performance a masterclass. The setup makes it better: earlier in the same season he dropped out of the Cocodona 250.
Between the DNF and the win, he brought in coach Jack Kuenzle and went at the heat the way an engineer goes at a failing system. Data-driven heat training, not vibes and salt tabs. Death Valley does not care how tough you feel, only how well you prepared to be cooked.
