Sunday night in Budapest, at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden ran 21.47 for 200m. On the raw clock that is the fourth-fastest women's 200m ever. She did it the day after winning the 100m.
Officially fourth-fastest. Adjusted for wind and altitude, it ties for the fastest ever run.
The asterisks all point the wrong way, which is to say her way. The wind was in her face. The conditions were cool. Both of those cost time, and she ran 21.47 anyway. LetsRun did the math and landed on the argument that this may simply be the greatest women's 200m in history.
