1,242 Miles of Alps, Faster Than Anyone

Sophie Woods ran the entire Via Alpina in under 30 days and took both the women's and the men's record with her.

The Via Alpina is not a race. It is a 1,242 mile hiking route that staggers across the Alps, the kind of line people plan a whole summer around and still do not finish. Sophie Woods ran it in under 30 days. Then she kept the receipts: her time is the fastest ever recorded, by a woman or a man.

1,242 miles. Under 30 days. Both records, gone.

Think about what that is day after day. Wake up in the mountains, run all of them, sleep, do it again, for a month, while the scenery keeps escalating and your body keeps quietly filing complaints. Most of us book a week in Chamonix and call it a big trip.
