ASICS Rebuilt the Gel-Cumulus as a Mary Jane
Camiel Fortgens takes the GEL-CUMULUS 16 apart and puts it back together with a strap and a velcro flap.
ASICS SportStyle handed the GEL-CUMULUS 16 to Camiel Fortgens for the inaugural Crafts for Mind project, and it came back as a Mary Jane. There is also a VELCRO version. Both are drawn from children's footwear, which is either a joke about how seriously we take running shoes or a sincere argument about how we should.

The construction leans into intentional imperfection: seams that show their work, an unfinished hand on a shoe engineered to within an inch of its life. Green colorways land September 24, 2026 in Amsterdam, with the brown pairs following in October.
