Corsica's Granite Spine Has a New Record

Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz took the men's supported FKT on the GR20. Go for the trail, not the time.

A lone trail runner crossing a knife-edge granite ridgeline high on Corsica, red rock spires falling away and the Mediterranean a silver line far below.

France's Aurélien Dunand-Pallaz has set a new men's supported fastest known time on the GR20, the trail that runs the length of Corsica along its granite spine. iRunFar has the report.

Book the ferry for the route, not for the record. The GR20 is why people say Corsica in the same breath as the Alps: red rock, knife-edge ridgelines, scree that moves under you, and a sea you can see from every high col and never quite reach.

Supported means a crew, a schedule, and no room to stop. Which is one way to see an island. The other way takes two weeks and a lot of cheese, and both are correct.
