About 96 grams in a men's US 9, one gram off the shoe adidas built its world record around. It costs $554 and only Japan gets it.
Mizuno has unveiled a carbon-plated racer that weighs about 96 grams in a men's US 9. For scale: that is one gram off adidas' own figure for the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, the shoe that has been under every recent marathon world record conversation.
It goes on sale December 4 for 88,000 yen, roughly $554, in Japan. That is a lot of money for a shoe you can nearly balance on one finger, and that is exactly the point. Nobody buys a 96 gram racer for the mileage.
